Stamp festival

The French Federation of Philatelic Associations (FFAP) organises every year a large promotional event called "Fête du Timbre", which used to be called "Journée du Timbre".

Stamp Day was created in France by the Federation of French Philatelic Societies in 1937.
Until 1944, this day was marked by the issue of philatelic documents made on the stamps of the time with a commemorative stamp. Custom stamped stationery was also issued to commemorate the day.
In 1944, the French Post Office issued the first stamp dedicated to Stamp Day. It depicts the Renouard de Villayer coat of arms, creator of the Petite Poste in 1653.
